I am a New York Native currently practicing in Belmont, NC and have worked extensively with individuals and families since 2006. I am a Psychotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both North Carolina and South Carolina, with a Master of Science from Columbia University. I am certified by Postpartum Support International (PSI) as a Perinatal Mental Health Professional and am a Certified Health Coach through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I am an EMDRIA Trained EMDR therapist and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat various mental health conditions, including trauma. I specialize in therapy that focuses on the emotional well-being of mothers and fathers during the perinatal period, which is the time frame during pregancy through the first year after the baby is born.

Among women, the leading cause of disease-related disability is depression. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders have been identified in women of every culture, age, income level and ethnicity. Research shows that Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders can appear during pregnancy or days or even months after childbirth, and does not usually resolve without treatment. Although the term “Postpartum Depression” is often used, there is actually a spectrum of disorders that can affect mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. These include: depression/anxiety in pregnancy, postpartum depression, perinatal panic disorder, perinatal obsessive-compulsive disorder, postpartum post traumatic stress disorder, perintal bipolar disorder, and postpartum psychosis. Without appropriate intervention, poor maternal mental health can have long term and adverse implications for mother, child and family. Mothers need to know: “You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.”

While supporting women and families through their healing jounrey, I emphasize the food-mood connection and am passionate about the strong proven relationship between nutrition and mental health. I am an expert at helping people overcome emotional and psychological barriers to physical health and weight goals, as well assessing techniques for evaluated a client's unique nutritional needs, and counseling them throughout the process of nutritional change. I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected, and work with you to develop and implement long-term sustainable changes. My background working with diverse populations in hospitals, schools, community settings and private practice, has given me the skills and experience necessary to effectively partner with and treat individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, life transition, emotional wellness, and personal growth, while addressing the relationship between what they eat, the way they think, feel and interact with the world .
